Insiders story

Awhile back I  was able to contact an insider that has direct access to old aircraft hydraulic parts.  They agreed to provide some interesting information, on the condition that I do not divulge their identity.

If you'd like to submit a story, or can add more details, please contact me at: tjjjc2@yahoo.com

Here are a few I'd like to ask in advance:

How does an aircraft salvage companies operate?.
Why they do not sell to Lowriders (give details if you can)?
And who are the regular customers that they do sell to. Meaning, who does buy Pescos and Hydro-aire valve beside Lowriders?
Where do the parts come from these day, do they still come from planes or warehouses?
How many parts do you sell a month?
How many more parts do you think are still available to be sold to Lowriders before the supply runs out?  I hear they may have been as many as 30,000 planes after the WW2 that may have been scraped.
Do you think there are many many parts still left to buy and in what conditions?

Hey fellow Lowriders and collectors of aircraft hydraulic setups. I myself work in the aircraft industry and I am also a Lowrider myself. I will be giving you guys a little insight on the stuff you use on your hydraulics and how it makes it's way off the plane.Article continues on this link.  Guests are welcome.

The following is from Street Rodder, September 1975.

This site is devoted to just about everything Lowrider related before 1990. Vintage Lowriding, Vintage hydraulics that can and have been used to lift or "Juice" cars. The pioneers that helped make it happen. Shows, events, cars, the clubs, people, neighborhoods, etc.

This site will have PICS of Vintage car shows from the 70s and 80s.  We'll post a lot of old hopping contest flyers from Otto Hydraulics and other stuff too, so you can see how the legends of today looked when they were younger and had more hair.

We will also have plenty of other original Lowrider type magazines too. We'll upload them so the new comers can check it out and the old timers can reflect on the good times.

We are always looking for sources of aircraft hydraulic parts and part numbers, manuals, old catalogs, etc. All aircraft hydraulic pump model numbers and specs. Info like the PSI, GPM, Voltage, RPM. Of special interest are the Pesco and Eemco gears, pumps, motors and power packs. If you see or find these numbers anywhere, please add your find to the database. Military personal, retired aerospace, aircraft restoration members, please contact us. Tjjjc2@yahoo.com.

I first got lifted around 1977, just before the first issue of Lowrider magazine came out. Before that I dreamed, learned and read as much as I could about hydros. My first set up was 90% aircraft hydraulics. This included landing gear cylinders called Jets and the Pesco hydraulic pumps with the large bubble reservoir as a tank on top. Including an aircraft 28 volt, two-way directional valve.

Back then, we bought our Pesco pumps and hydro-aire dump valves or Big Greens  from Pallies and Reds in LA.  D&H rings a bell too. Pallies was a surplus store that sold a lot of Pescos and Hydro-aire dump valves along with other aircraft parts.
